The most interesting dinner in the world, touring a haunted house, and inside my editing process!

If you could have dinner with anyone at all … who would it be?
That’s the question I got to ask celebs on the red carpet at “The World’s Most Fascinating Dinner,” a Stella Artois-sponsored event I attended last week.
I made a video about it but not all of the responses made the cut. My favorite answer was from Ludacris, who said he wanted to dine with R2D2 to understand his “beep boops.” He was also curious whether or not utensils would pop out of his body. Good question, Ludacris.
I didn’t exactly stick to the script entirely … I also asked all these celebs if I could tour their homes. And two of them (Sean Evans and Ryan Tedder) agreed!
One of the reasons I agreed to do the red carpet interviews was because I knew it would be an excellent networking opportunity. Saying yes to the event put me in the room with big names. Then, all I had to do was ask for what I wanted: an apartment tour.
In case you missed my recent content …
Christie Brinkley not only let me tour her Sag Harbor home – she let us hang with her friends and kids for hours after!
That’s atypical.
Usually, I film and am expected to leave once we have the footage … but Christie lit a fire and told ghost stories. That’s when she told us her house is haunted – and, you know what, I believe it.
I’ve toured a lot of fancy, high-end spaces at this point but none as extravagant as the $70 million one I got to step foot in last week: The ELLE DECOR penthouse in New York City.
There’s an interesting story behind it: Designer Joe Nahem worked with other designers and artists to create a unique, custom space and fill it with fascinating art.
Walking into this apartment was like walking into a museum. But the art and architecture was subtle enough that it could actually pass for someone’s home (the apartment is currently up for sale).
Of course I had to test out the bed. Like everything else in the apartment, it was one-of-a-kind: You’re floating in the clouds, overlooking Central Park.
Look out for this video dropping later today!
Home products spotlight
If you’re new to the newsletter, this section is dedicated to highlighting some standout products I come across touring people’s apartments all the time.
This week’s products include:
You don’t have to be a bookworm to find a use-case for this minimalist shelving unit. You can fill it with plants or flowers or bags (or books, of course).
Because who wouldn’t want to drink their coffee (or hot chocolate) out of this mug.
You know I love disco. With this self-adhesive roll, you can literally turn anything into a disco ball!
Ask me anything!
This week’s question: How do you handle post-production? Do you edit everything yourself?
The answer is, yes! Every video you see on Instagram and TikTok, I edit myself in Adobe Premiere Pro. (For my longer-form YouTube videos, I hired an editor to help out.)
A minute-long video can take me anywhere from 45 minutes to three hours to edit. I enjoy the process. When I’m filming (which I mostly do on my iPhone by the way), I typically don’t know what the story is yet or have a vision of the final product. It’s only when I go back through the footage and sit down to edit when I start creating the story.
The edit may seem simple when you’re watching a 60-second video, but there’s a lot of choices being made behind the scenes.
What I’m looking forward to …
I’m headed to VidCon this weekend! It’s in Baltimore this year and I’ll be giving two talks: one on Saturday and one on Sunday.
If you’re attending, come say hi :)
